Today (Tuesday 27 May) two men from North Wales and Liverpool have been jailed as part of a NWROCU investigation into Class A drug supply.

Raymond Kinnear, 63, of Abbey Farm, Llangollen was sentenced to 17 years in prison and Nathan Kinnear, 23, of Satinwood Cresent, Liverpool was sentenced to 7 years and 4 months after they both pleaded guilty to conspiracy to supply Class A drugs (cocaine).

The investigation began on 18 June 2024, when NWROCU detectives, acting on intelligence, executed a warrant at a storage unit in Liverpool and discovered an Audi registered to Ray with a substantial amount of Class A drugs worth more than £1.5 million pounds concealed in Sports Direct bags for life.

Ray was seen with Nathan on CCTV earlier that day at a Liverpool Travelodge, where he was arrested later that day. Ray had a set of keys to the Audi that the police had seized earlier that day.

The next day, when police arrived at Nathan's girlfriend's house, they found a Mercedes registered to Kinnear parked outside. Officers detailed Nathan and arrested him after he attempted to flee the address by jumping out of a window.

When police seized the vehicle, they discovered a receipt from the day before, on which Kinnear had purchased eight Sports Direct bags for life.

When officers searched the homes of Ray and Nathan Kinnear, they found over £25,000 in cash and two Rolex watches.

Detective Chief Inspector Zoe Russo from the NWROCU said:

“These men have been jailed for supplying Class A drugs, which cause untold misery and harm in our communities.

“We hope that this sends a message to criminals that you are not untouchable. We are committed to ridding the streets of drugs, robustly dealing with high harm offenders to reduce crime and restore trust and confidence in communities across the North West.

“Anyone who has information about drug dealing in the community should call 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
