A Cheshire man has been jailed for multiple child sex offences following an investigation by the North West Regional Organised Crime Unit.
Today (Friday 25 September), Stefan Meek, 52, of Seven Walk, Winsford was sentenced to 12 and a half years' imprisonment after pleading guilty to:
Meek was also made subject to a 20 year Sexual Harm Prevention Order and will remain on the Sex Offenders Register indefinitely.
The investigation began after officers from the NWROCU identified Meek communicating online with an individual he believed to be a child.
During the conversations, Meek sent sexual messages before arranging to meet the child in St Helens.
On 30 April 2026, Meek travelled to an agreed meet-up location, where he was arrested by officers from the NWROCU's Internet Child Abuse Team. A mobile phone was seized at the time of his arrest.
Subsequent searches of his home address led to the seizure of further electronic devices.
Digital forensic examination of the devices identified evidence of further offending involving children. Investigators established that Meek possessed more than 500 indecent images and videos of children and had distributed some of the material online.
Further analysis of online communications also revealed evidence Meek had arranged a meeting with another individual he believed to be a child and had sought opportunities to facilitate sexual activity involving a child.
Detective Constable Natalie Jackson, from the NWROCU, said:
"Stefan Meek posed a sinificant threat to children and took active steps to purse and facilitate sexual offending.
"We welcome today's sentence which reflects the seriousness of these offences and demonstrate our commitment to identifying offenders, safeguarding children, and bringing those responsible before the courts.
"Anyone who has experienced sexual abuse, or who has concerns about a child, should report it to police. Information provided by the public plays a vital role in protecting vulnerable people and preventing harm."
