Last week (Thursday 17 September 2026) a man from Bolton was jailed at Bolton Crown Court for child sex offences following an investigation by the North West Regional Organised Crime Unit (NWROCU).
Oliver Bromilow, 27, of Wigan Road, Bolton, was sentenced for four years and four months after pleading guilty to attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child, attempt to cause/incite a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity, and attempting to cause a child under 13 to watch an image of sexual activity.
He was given 10 years on a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and will be indefinitely on the Sex Offenders Register.
The investigation began when officers from the NWROCU identified that Bromilow had been in communication online with a child he believed to be 12 years old. He used the online platform to send explicit messages and images.
In October 2025, Bromilow was arrested at his home address and later charged.
Detective Inspector Jon Weir from the NWROCU said:
“Bromilow knew exactly what he was doing when he began sending these messages and images. This is an extremely serious offence, and one that we will not tolerate.
“We remain committed to protecting the children in our communities. We will relentlessly pursue those who seek to exploit or abuse children, remove offenders from our streets, and bring them to justice."
