Targeted Darlington operation results in the seizure of Class A drugs and a suspect in handcuffs
Targeted Darlington operation results in the seizure of Class A drugs and a suspect in handcuffs.
Yesterday (Thursday), officers from the North East Regional Organised Crime Unit (NEROCU) executed two warrants after intelligence suggested the properties had links to the suspected importation of drugs from Holland.
Officers, descended upon the two addresses, one on Thames Way and one on Charles Street, and discovered large quantities of both Class A and Class B drugs including MDMA, Cocaine, Amphetamine and Cannabis.
Searches of the properties also resulted in the seizure of a variety of drug paraphernalia.
The operation had been assisted by Durham Constabulary and National Crime Agency (NCA) partners and resulted in the arrest of a 33-year-old man on suspicion of Importation of Class A Drugs and Possession with Intent to Supply Class A and Class B drugs. He has since been released under investigation while enquiries continue.
Sergeant Neil Lovat, from NEROCU’s Disruption Team, said: “This is exactly the type of partnership activity that will continue as part of Operation Sentinel, which is our region-wide response to tackling Serious and Organised Crime.
“Drugs and those looking to profit from these illicit activities have no place in our communities and we remain committed to dismantling these organised criminal operations and ensuring those believed to be involved get a knock on the door from us.”
If you have any information about suspected criminality, you can report it to your local police or you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously by visiting their website or calling 0800 555 111.
