Nine arrested following dawn raids across Merseyside this morning

This morning (Thursday 4 December) officers from the North West Regional Organised Crime Unit, supported by Merseyside Police, carried out warrants across Merseyside as part of an investigation into the production and supply of Class A and B drugs.

The warrants took place in Liverpool, Sefton, and Knowsley, and at one address in Prescot where a cannabis factory was uncovered. In total, nine arrests were made on suspicion of conspiracy to produce and supply Class A and B drugs. All those arrested have been taken to local police stations for questioning. 

The arrests follow warrants executed last year targeting buildings suspected of being laboratories used to adulterate drugs to increase profits. During those operations, Officers found what they believed was a tonne of heroin adulterant and other chemicals.

Further warrants were carried out at an industrial unit in Huyton where 550 kilos of suspected cocaine adulterant was seized. In St Helens a suspected amphetamine laboratory was uncovered, with 80 kilos of the class B drug being seized along with other chemicals.

The scale of the substances seized highlights the significant threat posed by those seeking to profit from the production and supply of harmful drugs. We will continue to work with our partners to dismantle these networks and protect our communities.”
