A man has been jailed after our officers caught him with 30kg of class A drugs worth around £3m in Staffordshire.

Stephen Lockley, 39, from Liverpool, was locked up for six years at Stafford Crown Court on Friday (10 January) after admitting possession with intent to supply heroin and cocaine in August.

It comes after officers from the Regional and Organised Crime Unit (ROCU) stopped a white transit van at Norton Canes Services on the M6 Toll on the afternoon of 23 July last year.

Inside they found 24kg of heroin, with an estimated street value of £2.4m, and 5kg of cocaine, believed to worth £500,000.

Detective Inspector David Simpson, who investigated, said: “Lockley was involved in a significant level of drug supply in our communities and we welcome this sentence.

"Illegal drugs have no place in our society and we will continue to combat organised criminal gangs that cause harm and misery in communities through their supply.

“This outcome should serve as a message to those involved in drug dealing. They will be tracked down, arrested, charged and sent to prison.”

We’re continuing to proactively target serious and organised crime across the West Midlands region, working with our regional forces as part of Operation Target.
