Two men have been remanded in custody after being charged in connection with the use of drones to fly packages into prisons.
Arshed Rafiq, 47 and of Grove Road in Bingham, and Muhammed Mustafa, 19 and of Hallyburton Road in Sheffield, were arrested on 2 July.
They have both charged with conspiracy to convey a list A article into a prison and conspiracy to convey a list B article into a prison.
The offences are alleged to have taken place between June 2025 and July 2026.
The charges follow an investigation by detectives in the East Midlands Special Operations Unit into drone package flights at multiple prisons across the country.
Rafiq and Mustafa both appeared before Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on 3 July, where they were remanded in custody until a hearing at Nottingham Crown Court on 31 July.
