Last week, (Wednesday 23 September) a man from North Wales was jailed following an investigation by the North West Regional Organised Crime Unit (NWROCU) into stolen heavy plant machinery.
Jordan Davies, 42, of Victoria Road, Prestatyn, was sentenced at Liverpool Crown Court for five years imprisonment after being found guilty of conspiracy to steal.
The investigation uncovered that between 2020 and 2022, Davies was taking out Hire Purchase Agreements from various finance brokers for different heavy plant machinery.
This machinery included Articulated Dump Trucks, Crawler Excavators, Low-Loader Trailers, Mobile Screening Plants, Wheel Loaders, and Telehandlers.
After obtaining the machinery, Davies sold and exported it to countries including Ukraine, the United States of America and Ireland without repaying the outstanding finance agreements.
In total, Davies dishonestly obtained machinery worth approximately £4 million.
Detective Inspector Ian Moore from the NWROCU said:
"Davies exploited finance agreements to obtain high-value plant machinery before selling it on for his own financial gain, leaving lenders and businesses out of pocket by millions of pounds.
