The Yorkshire and Humber Regional Organised Crime Unit (YHROCU) was established in 2009. We operate across four police force areas – Humberside, North Yorkshire, South Yorkshire and West Yorkshire and regularly work with our Yorkshire and Humber Forces and national partners to tackle Serious and Organised Crime.
What we do
YHROCU delivers an increased response to tackling serious and organised crime that transcends Force borders in the Yorkshire and Humber region. The unit is comprised of highly specialised teams of officers and staff from the four forces. They work with partners to cover all four areas of the Government’s CONTEST strategy- Protect, Prepare, Prevent and Pursue.
This provides additional capacity and resilience for the region, allowing the use of all forms of covert policing tactics against cross border and highly motivated organised criminals, as well as providing expert support to the constituent forces.
Capabilities
We have a number of dedicated specialist teams designed to tackle each area of Serious and Organised crime.
These include:
These all work in the pursuit of organised crime groups involved in the likes of drugs and firearms supply, organised immigration crime, acquisitive crime, human trafficking and exploitation, money laundering and fraud, prison corruption and intel, and cyber related crimes.
Our Mission
The mission of the unit is simple - to protect the communities of North, South, West Yorkshire and Humberside from serious and organised crime. We place emphasis on preventing, prosecuting and disrupting serious and organised crime ensuring a co-ordinated national approach across Government, law enforcement, security and intelligence agencies.
